Moderators: Query re Diary Divisional Troops: 3 Divisional Train (15,21,22,29 Companies A.S.C.). 1st Sept-31st Dec 1915.

The query regards the dairy of No. 4 Coy 3rd Divisional Train – pages 319 and 320 as under which I believe are misfiled and are for 1914 not 1915.

Diary page 320 – Profile page 1274 - 3-14 November – no year given. Believe year 1914 not 1915. (See previous taggers comments, which I agree with after seeing record. i.e “Wikipedia reports General Frederick Shaw. 9th Inf Bde Commander, injured 12 Nov 14 when shell hits HQ”. Link: https://talk.operationwardiary.org/#/subjects/AWD0003rio They are at Bailleul and Ouderdom.

Diary page 319, Pofile page 1273 which for 31st Oct -1-2 November 1915. Believe misfiled and is for 1914 Link: https://zooniverse-static.s3.amazonaws.com/www.operationwardiary.org/subjects/standard/59539dfe9d936f003e003453.jpg They are at Dranoutre and Locre Road.

Reasons: A: Have already tagged a section for No. 4 Coy 3rd Divisional Train for 31st Oct-29 Nov 1915. They are at Godewaersvelde and Winnezeele and Boeschepe. Diary pages 274-281. Too far back to give profile pages.

B: Have already tagged a section for the SO (Supply Officer) No. 4 Coy 3rd Divisional Train for 1-30 November 1915 – places Godewaersvelde and Winnezeele and Boeschepe. Too far back to give profile pages.

I have commented on pages 319 and 320 – “#misfiled believe year is 1914 not 1915”. I believe the following page which I have yet to tag also seem to be for 1914 - 15-25th Nov. as they are holding Divine Service on the 15th which is a Sunday, 1914. Probably dates 25th to end Nov will also be for 1914 and misfiled.

    Hope you can understand this.

I tend to agree with you about it being 1915 because I've been tagging the 7th Field Ambulance diary, also part of the 3rd Division, and in late-October, 1915, they moved to Eecke, which is in the same general area as Godewaersvelde and Boeschepe. It makes sense that the entire division would be in the same area.

Thanks for letting us know about this.

Cynthia, I believe the diary pages 319 and 320 which I queried are for 1914 not 1915 because I have already tagged diary pages for 1915 as above.

Marie, sorry about that! I wasn't paying attention to what I wrote!

What I meant is that in the fall of 1915 the entire 3rd Division was in the area of Godewaersvelde and Boeschepe, so these two pages that indicate other places were likely from a different year. I haven't tagged that diary, so I'll take your word and that of the other taggers who left comments, that it is 1914. However, I have tagged other 3rd Division diaries for 1914 that agree with Bailleul and Ouderdom.

Another report on a #misfiled pages included in the diary of the Divisional Troops: 3 Divisional Train (15,21,22,29 Companies A.S.C.). 1st Sept-31st Dec 1915.

    #misfiled Page No. 323 (profile page 1277) is dated 1-2 Nov 1914
    https://talk.operationwardiary.org/#/subjects/AWD0003ta8

Pages 324 up to and including page 331 -profile page 1285- Link: https://talk.operationwardiary.org/#/subjects/AWD0003rkq for 30 November 1914 are also misfiled. I have commented that these pages are for 1914 and misfiled.

The next page for me to tag 332, which is another misfiled page for Nov 1914 – a new section for the SO 7th Infantry Brigade.

As I continue to tag this diary, will it be enough to comment in the page box that these pages are (#misfiled the year is 1914) if that is the case? Instead of reporting them to you as before?
