Pt. joined as bootmaker?

On 23 May Private Fisk joined the unit as a...bootmaker? That makes sense, though I hadn't thought they would be making boots from scratch, so would he have been more of a repair person? Or is this something else entirely?

I can't decide whether it says bootmaker or not.
If it does, then it could have been a temporary posting to ensure all the men had decent footwear - note that he came from one of the Field Ambulances, an RAMC man, possibly from a sanitary section? That would fit with the hygiene/health angle.
Any thoughts, anybody?

There is an article on google about Bootmakers and Shoemakers going to war. Just Google Bootmaker WW1. I read it as Bootmaker.
