    2/Lt. Laracy joined. Height 6 foot 7 inches in his socks. . Bet he had to keep his head down in the trenches.

    Not being familiar with feet and inches I used a "feet and inches to centimeters calculator" and found a two-meter tall lieutenant. Must have been narrow in the dugouts also. 😉

    Wow! He might just have been able to stand upright in a standard trench, but he was certainly unusually tall.

    As a followup, 2/Lt. Laracy lost a leg on 13 March, 1917, as he was returning from a patrol. He was with the 6th Royal Irish Regiment for about 6 months.
