I think Marie's right - it looks like they got the officer back to the Field Ambulance post, but that he died there.

A.P is Aid Post. You can have an R.A.P. or if the Aid Post is not at Regimental Level remove the R. I cannot find a reference to an "Ambulance Post" in any military Publications I have read.
