Has anyone else come across Germans dropping paper balloons with "Camphor anthrax" on British lines?

The red paper balloon appeared on Jan 2nd 1918 when it dropped into the Winter billets of the 19th Hussars- http://talk.operationwardiary.org/#/subjects/AWD0000vt8 Originally it was to be destroyed, but obviously someone sent it off for more detailed examination. When I read it, I thought it was something to do with New Year's Day celebrations. Oops.
It was mentioned again on January 21st 1918 - http://talk.operationwardiary.org/#/subjects/AWD0000vwm - when the germs of Camphor Anthrax had been found in it.

On January 26th 1918 an order was received to put any German paper balloon which fell on the ground under guard until removed by mobile laboratory. http://talk.operationwardiary.org/#/subjects/AWD0000vvj
