Polderhoek Chateau

  • cyngast by cyngast moderator

I've been going through the diary of the 1st Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry when they took part in an attack on Polderhoek Chateau in early Nov. 1917. I decided I wanted to find the chateau's actual location and while searching for a map I came across this account of the New Zealanders attack on the chateau about a month later: https://historygeek.co.nz/2013/11/13/ww1-polderhoek-chateau-this-is-where-i-was-wounded/ It's an interesting story, and not too long, so I thought I would share it.

Thanks for sharing the article about Polderhoek Chateau. Very interesting reading. I believe that after the war the owners of the château never returned and thus it was not rebuilt. Today the whole area is covered in an industrial zone.

Yes, thanks! The interactive map of the New Zealand assault was a great resource.
