Mixture of 9th & 8th Devons. Latter 50 strong with no Officers. Reserve Officers joined Btn in the trench.Capt Roberts took command. 26.9.15

Rest of day passed in trench. Orders received to hold on about 8am. No Infantry action. German guns active did not shell us at all. 26.9.15.

#sniper There was little sniping disconcerting the un aimed fire & stray bullets,direction Fosse 8.Practically reverse fire.1 man shot dead.

Btn now 30 strong stragglers came in-about 50 men spent yesterday in trench N of road. Spent 3 uncomfortable days:all ranks tired 27th Sept

Move orders cancelled. Stand to Arms-move to front line & attack but position retaken-to New front line position normal. Marched to billets
