Inspector of Food Ecomomies

I have a diary entry of a visit of Inspector of Food Economies. Anyone know what this mans job was?

@David_Underdown might well know the answer to this one, but at a guess I would say he was most likely charged with ensuring that units were providing men with nutritious food within the budgetary limits set by the army. Despite the horrors of trench warfare, the British were actually very active in trying to keep things like hygiene and the physical welfare of the troops a top priority.

new one on me I'm afraid. Nothing obvious in The National Archives catalogue either. You're explanation seems reasonably likely.
