    The thing this project has really hammered home to me is that 100 years wasn't really that long ago. Don't you think? If you gloss over the odd slightly old-fashioned turn of phrase, many of the diaries could have been written yesterday.

    I actually removed my original post, hoping to avoid some embarrassment. I realized after I made that post that the page I was reading was actually from 1915!

    It's still 99 years! Regardless of that, the point about how recent some of it sounds still stand I think?

    Yes, I think it does. I tend to think of these men as contemporaries and have to remind myself they lived and sometimes died 100 years ago.
