Post-war boredom?

Has anyone else noticed a certain insouciance creeping into the diaries in 1919? As here where the writer livens up his routine accounts of parades and inspections with this little gem:
"The division of which this Bn. was formerly part will in future be known as "NORTHERN DIVISION" + not "3rd Division" has heretofore."
Note the faux-posh "has" instead of "as".

Here's another from him a few pages later:
"Coys. who were not bathing were at the disposal of Coy. commanders for inspection of S.B.Rs., Gas Drill & elementary musketry."They are stationed in Cologne. On one diary page he gives the reference map as "Plan der stadt, 1:15,000", i.e. a street map!
