An interesting brave #story - Attack by 2 Battalion Machine Gun Corps - 23 October 1918.
-
Lt. J N Nolan of B Company got excellent targets, repelled a local counter-attack by turning 6 enemy machine guns which had been abandoned. He used these with excellent effect causing numerous casualties and 27 of the enemy to surrender to him personally. A German field gun which was firing at his guns with direct-laying, was silenced by his fire. Also at this time there was a gap in the line temporarily on the left and from this position he was able to cover this gap. Link: - http://talk.operationwardiary.org/#/subjects/AWD00039x7
