    Carbide used for lamps: If you google ... carbide ww1 ... it will bring up a page with one of the links headed: Images carbide ww1. And gives information about these under the heading - Lamp - Victorian Collections 30 Sep 2014 - WW1 Military Carbide Signal and General Purpose Lamp which is round and made of brass.
