"Hurricane Fire"

Came across this term while tagging tonight. From what I was able to find, artillery "hurricane fire" is now called "Fire for Effect"! In other words, once you have determined your first few rounds are on target, you unleash hell on the enemy! Hope this makes sense and...hope the info I found is correct!

I think it was usually used as "hurrican bombardment", a short sharp bombardment just before an attack, as opposed to the long ones. The idea was to give less warning that an attack was imminent.
