This diary has been very interesting. Some engineering unit diaries I've worked on have been very dry, just a listing of what work each section is doing every day, but this author has added a lot of commentary about procedures, the needs of the men and officers, and the importance of things like the plan of the craters. He even mentioned the funeral of four sappers who were killed by a shell.
Thanks for the photo, too. It really shows the size of the crater compared to the men. I had no idea they were that big!

Thanks - great to see the previous discussions realised like that!
