Taking a look at some of the names from the diary pages - a good day to begin the series, as today is Remembrance Day in the UK.

Great idea Rob - someone did ask the question in the Lives support forum about what the link-up might be between the two projects. Here at least is one we can do!

Also Veterans' Day here in the US.
It's nice to know that we still have a holiday that tangentially recognizes just how monumental WWI and its armistice were, when, perhaps especially in the US, it's massively overshadowed by WWII in the public mindset.

On a related note...don't suppose anybody knows whether the American Expeditionary Force units kept records similar to the war diaries, do they?

They seem to have something called morning reports http://www.archives.gov/st-louis/military-personnel/morning-reports-and-unit-rosters.html

Thanks, David. That's interesting. I've spoken to a couple of people at NARA, but so far haven't been able to track anything down. The Morning Reports look worth investigating.
