Medical ranks

  • Kringellek by Kringellek

None of the medical ranks are included in the standard rank list (this project clearly wasn't set up with them in mind), which necessitates choosing 'other' every time e.g. a Sub Assistant Surgeon is mentioned. At the moment this data is going unrecorded - should these ranks be mentioned in comments or something?

They aren't ranks, they are appointments, which is why they aren't included. In some cases a rank will be given too. See this thread for more discussion on this in Indian Army diaries http://talk.operationwardiary.org/#/boards/BWD000000h/discussions/DWD0000jf7

If the person is referred to only by their appointment and not their rank then all you can do is put other. As ever the most important thing is to record the name.
