Other Units

Tagging 1 RDG in Jan 16, I find that all the deployments of a much larger contingent are listed, together with some infantry regiments, but with no mention of 1 RDG itself, although the diary page is headed The Royal Dragoons. Should I attempt to tag information on these other units?

This is quite common, where you find the Units from the higher formation (Brigade or Division) which your Regiment is part of are mentioned. Tag the Unit and formation names using the "other unit" tag, but don't go into detail of their activities unless it involves the unit whose diary you are tagging.

One thing to be aware of is that it may talk about a Brigade/Division attack, referring to the Brigade/Division the Unit was part of and so they may actually have been involved (even if only in support) without you realising. It will tell usually tell you in the diary header what Brigade or Division your Unit was in, or you can look it up here http://www.1914-1918.net/army.htm

1st (Royal) Dragoons were part of 6th Cavalry Brigade, 3rd Cavalry Division http://www.1914-1918.net/3cavdiv.htm

    Thanks.
re the structure, a few pages ago there was an explanation of the complete restructuring of the dismounted units, with the brigades becoming battalions with infantry establishments. 1 RDG was required to reorganise as an infantry company with an establishment of 300 men. Interesting.
