Dates

  • Skyletron by Skyletron

Hello! Quick question about dates. For a date such as 6-7-18 should I assume the European usage (that is, day-month-year)? This date could be read either June 7, 1918 or July 6, 1918.

    Thanks!

Yes. The diaries are written by British officers. They would not have used the American format to the best of my knowledge.

I have just started a new Regiment but the first page has no dates except the day, how can I find out which month and year it is? Quite a lot of pages have already been tagged by others.

    Hello Jan,

Just put in the day. (Erase the month and year part of the text in the box at the top of the Date tag.)

I know how frustrating that can be - but, don't be too worried. The automated analysis will be able to use other dates in the diary to assign a month and year.
