Can I use external sources to try and confirm what I think the page says – for example names from the Commonwealth War Graves Commission or a regimental History?
Whilst this shows great enthusiasm, there are a number of issues with using external sources to try and clarify what you think it says on a page. There is no guarantee other sources are correct so using external sources can possibly reinforce an error. It is important to try and tag what you think the page says. The place to research the Life Stories of people mentioned in the diaries will be Lives of the First World War, where information from lots of different sources can be linked together, shared and saved for future generations.
