What is I/C, many times on this page?

I would say it is an abbreviation for In Command. (In charge of).

Rather than in command, as Marie suggests, I think it means in charge. For instance, toward the bottom of this page, I saw a lorry i/c of Pte. Nash. This would mean he was in charge of the lorry. One can hardly be "in command" of a lorry!

I've also seen instances in other diaries where NCOs are "i/c" of a small party.

Yes, in charge. IC = In command. i/c = In charge, according to following link for Army abbreviations. Link: http://www.researchingww1.co.uk/ww1abbreviations

Did not read all the diary page with reference to this just looked at the initials Therefore, I will call it a Christmas correction.
