Connections

One of the cool things about this project, for me at any rate, is when something in one diary relates to something in another unit's diary.

For instance, before beginning work on this diary, the 14th York and Lancaster Regiment, also known as the 2nd Barnsley Pals, I had tagged the diary of the 165th Brigade RFA. I am fairly confident that they were doing this shelling for wire-cutting purposes. I remember reading that while some of the wire was well cut, other areas needed more work. This observation is similar to this one from the infantry point of view.

Whenever I read anything to do with history, I'm always intrigued by the connections that suddenly give you a bigger picture of the situation.
