    Dentures-court martial trial.

    Cases of loss or fracture of dentures will be investigated. Liable to Court Martial trial, if result shows wilful damage or negligence. (Dentures supplied by Government to NCO’s and men).

    State of teeth was very important to the army, in part I think because you needed teeth to use a gas mask properly. Also, as the bracketed bit says, they were issue, so it was potentially a case of damaging government property!

    You might also struggle with some army rations (eg biscuit) if your teeth weren't in a good state, it was a fairly common reason for failing a medical exam at the start of the war.
