  What is the rank 'W' for four of the men here? The only 'W' in the Rank drop-down menu is Warrant Officer, but I've never seen that used before, so it would be strange for this Bde to have 4 of them. It could be an 'M,' but the only 'M' is Major, and that is spelled out twice on this page, so that's not it. I don't think it's a first initial because none of the other men have one, and the men on the previous page didn't, either.

  It might be for warrant officer. A warrant officer was equivalent to a battery sergeant major, I think.

  Definitely not warrant officer - this is a list of commissioned officers and warrant officers are high ranking NCOs. I think it's actually Lt - Lieutenant - with the t as a sort of superscript after the L.
