Regarding the discussion about the sketch and Storks’ comment i.e “Sorry, cyngast, it was many pages ago, so I don't remember when or where. I should have thought to make note of that when I posted” This is the discussion page link:

This is the *diary page that I have just tagged and I remember the discussion: *Diary page link: https://talk.operationwardiary.org/#/subjects/AWD0003nxi

Also the Sketch page link: https://www.operationwardiary.org/#/classify showing panorama of trenches and showing an aircraft.

*The diary entry for the 21st April 1915 on page 118 states: ... (they were at Rouge Du Bout).

“German observation balloon and hostile aircraft up. Slight hostile shelling In Rue Tilleroy, East of Picantin and on our trenches there”.

There is another sketch on page 119 marked Opposite Picantin. Link: https://talk.operationwardiary.org/#/subjects/AWD0003o3o

I commend the artist on his perspective when drawing these really good sketches!

Thanks for the links, Marie. It's great to find sketches like these in the diaries - it gives you a much better sense of what the author saw than any grid reference does!

Marie, thanks for bringing these to our attention again. These sketches are such treasures. I wonder if the IWM has them in its collection? For me, the thing that I really took note of was the airplane downed in the middle of No Man's Land.

Did you know you can add new comments to an old thread and it will bump that thread up to the top of its section on the Talk page? That saves you the trouble of needing to copy and paste all those links!

Hi Cynthia, regarding linking to threads, I generally do that but this time forgot to do that in this instance.

That's okay. I just wanted to make sure you knew that.
