Marie, I hope you don't mind that I have jumped in here and posted these sketches. I saw them at the top of the Talk page and decided they were just too good not to share.

This page 292 comments on enclosing copy sketches of the churches. It is signed by Major W D Shrimpton of the 109th Brigade – unfortunately I don’t know who sketched them. Wonder if any of them were still standing after the war.

It looks like some of them, particularly the one at Langemarcke, were already damaged.

They're very good, aren't they? I guess they must have been circulated to help people identify where they were.

Oh, that's a good thought. It explains why they all have map/grid references.
