    Yes, Territorial Field Company.

    Territorial Force in ww1

In the first two months of the First World War, territorials volunteered for foreign service in significant numbers, allowing territorial units to be deployed abroad.

Territorial units were initially deployed overseas to free up regular units from non-combat duties. On the Western Front, individual battalions were attached to regular army formations and sent into action, and the territorials were credited with playing a key role in stopping the German offensive.

Yes, I think he meant Territorial. This would have been the 1st (Home Counties) Field Company, one of the other two field companies of the 8th Division. It eventually was renamed the 490th Field Company in 1917. This author referred to them as the Territorial Field Company rather than using their formal designation.

In September,1914, the decision was made to add a third field company to each division already in France. Eight field companies from territorial forces still in the UK were sent to France in early 1915, one to each of the eight divisions.
