Maybe Sergeant/Acting/Bombardier - not sure though.

No, not sergeant/acting bombardier. Sergeant is a higher rank than bombardier.

It appears just before the farriers, shoeing smiths and saddlers, so maybe it has something to do with one of those appointments.

gnr McGeshie A. 97863: this service number is from gnr McPherson. This gnr McGeshie is probably s/a/bdr McGeashie (see previous comment)

gnr MalletT H.: in previous nominal rolls Mallet had only 1 T at the end.

gnr Spelisy F. 51733; in Lo1WW it's SpelLisEy Frank. In the previous nominal roll his name was spelled as Spellany
