accidental death

  • 141Dial34 by 141Dial34

Is an accidently shot death a KIA stat or a non-combat death. He is at war after all doing his duty & this was an unfortunate occurance. Other injuries such as horse falls or football injuries or ambulance drivers in a crash on the way to pick-up casualties. Even getting sick in a war zone is counted in the war stats so Its a grey area & guidance would be appreciated.

I'm not actually sure. There aren't many details about the accident given, so it's hard to say. I'll get a message off to Rob to see what he thinks.

ETA: Message sent. I expect he'll see it in the morning UK time.

If this had happened when they weren't in the trenches, I'd say it's a non-combat death, in the same way that accidentally drowning in a river while bathing or getting run over by an ambulance would be.

However, in this case, as they're in the line I think I'd class it as Killed in Action.
