18/1/1919 At first I thought i Crossley was a person (can't make out the rank however), but could it be a car?

I believe it is a car:
I read it as 2nd Army Box car Crossley recovered from Moulins-sous-Fléron having (returnes?) from Paris.

There was a Crossley Motors in Manchester. They were a car manufacturer but became a major supplier of military vehicles during the First World War. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crossley_Motors
I tagged some other sections of this diary. I recognized Major Murphy's style right away: "Supplies normal." I thought his diaries were more interestingly written than other divisional train diaries I've tagged. He seems to care quite a bit for his vehicles and he describes a lot of the other things they do besides the supplies, but you'll never know the initials of his subalterns.

Didn't know his name was Murphy. You are right about his style: Supplies normal, loading and issuing as yesterday. Seems he only knows one day: yesterday 😉 . On the other hand I had one name with initials G.P.S. Clark, probably Gordon Paget Stuart Clark.
