Yes, the entire British Expeditionary Force retired after the Battle of Mons on August 24 all the way to positions well south of the River Marne, east of Paris. It is often referred to as the Retreat from Mons or the Great Retreat. It took about two weeks, and on September 6 the French and British together made a stand and began to push the Germans back to the north. Then the men marched back north to the area around Soissons; the Germans had dug in on the high ground north of Soissons and the Aisne River.
I've linked to this article, although there are many, many online, because it has a fairly good map of the retreat: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Retreat
ETA: Most of the men walked the entire distance, eating what rations they could get because the supply lines were understandably thoroughly disrupted.

The first and last battles of WW1 were at Mons
The Battle of Mons was the first major action of the British Expeditionary Force (BEF) in the FirstWorld War. Britain declared war on Germany on 4 August 1914 and on 9 August, the BEF began embarking for France. Link:
Mons attained the dubious honour of being known as ‘The First and the Last’ – the town on the Frontline where the first and last major engagements of World War One took place, where the first and last English soldiers were killed, their remains buried next to each other in a cemetery on the outskirts of the town. It’s also the place where the first Victoria Crosses for acts of valour were awarded. Mons was recaptured by the Canadian Corps on the 11th November 1918, after months of German occupation. Freedom was restored to the City. Here was fired the last shot of the Great War.
