observation boxes

  What are observation boxes? = Obervation Post? On previous pages they were making ammunition boxes, but now they make obsrevation boxes.

  I think we need a little more information to be certain - perhaps you might come across some plans later which will make it clearer. However, I think observation posts is a reasonable guess - probably the armoured kind which could be dropped in position in the trenches. The other thing which occurred to me is box periscopes - which are observation devices.
