When a battalion is split up in two, does the diary mentions the activities of both?

It depends on why the battalion is split up. In this case, I think that probably there were not enough billets at the camp where HQ, A and D companies went, so B and C companies ended up near Rubrouck. All the companies probably did the same type of training activities during those four days. On the 20th, when it says the battalion moved back to Road Camp, B and C companies probably rejoined the rest of the battalion.

Sometimes you may find a separate diary attached at the end of the month from a detached company, covering the time that it was away from the rest of the battalion.
