    I wonder if this a/Brigade Major signs himself the orders, because his signature is different every time. See Image AWD0003jcy and Image AWD0003jah and AWD0003jbd and AWD0003j92

    I read the last 3 images of the orders you mention as being signed by Captain L B Bailey, a/Brigade Major 49th Infantry Brigade.

    Some of these samples look like they were made by a stamp rather than written by hand. That would explain why there is a gap in the middle of the surname.

    I would think a Brigade Major had a lot of things to sign, so they may have been able to have a stamp made of their signature. Then the assistant who actually typed up these orders could "sign" for the Brigade Major.

    Good point with the stamp - I actually thought all the signatures looked surprisingly similar, so a stamp makes sense.
