Any idea why there are German names on this map?

The only reasons I can think of is that it was either captured or else a prisoner/deserter gave the British the information, although I don't know why the British would need German names on their map.

Maybe someone else will have a better answer for you.

I would imagine any information from reconnaissance missions above the trenches from planes and balloons and other surveying methods, would be given to the troops to include on their trench maps, particularly information showing the enemy positions. German names given for probable German positions, to assist our troops in attacking the Germans. The Map mentioned in the question shows different colours used for certain positions and the German positions are shown in violet.

It would also have helped to know the German names for British positions - if any signals were intercepted, or intelligence gained through trench raids, then it might have helped work out the enemy's plans.
