    Yes, it's a code for whoever sent the message. I'm not sure whether the letters stand for anything or whether they were randomly assigned.

    Thought it maybe Brigade Message Communication or Brigade Message Code, only a thought though.

    It might be one of those, Marie, although that is just a guess. I see it's signed by a Brigade Major.

    It's possible it's something like that, Marie, but I suspect not. What would be interesting is to find a similar message from another brigade and see what code they use.

    It's from the brigade major (ie the main brigade staff officer), so could be something like brigade major communication 44

    On reflection, it's probably actually Brigade Message Centre 44 - the brigade message centre was operated by a section from the Divisional Signal Company. Basically just the Brigade Major's phone number.
